Is there anything a rice cooker cannot do?! I keep meaning to do this and I keep forgetting. I was speaking to my mum the weekend just gone and she reminded me to try it out.
Now, when I want boiled eggs for breakfast I would put a pan of water to heat up then put the eggs in and set a timer for 8 and half minutes. I do like my yolks to still be a little soft in the middle! Sometimes when the water is too boiled the egg shell would crack (devastating!)
So crack (no pin intended lol) on with the rice cooker. Wet a kitchen towel, not too wet maybe a little damp and wrap it around your eggs. Put this in the rice cooker and when you hear the pop it’s done. Less than 8 minutes! I should really time it but I think it’s about 5 minutes (there abouts).
The rice cooker uses the moisture of the kitchen towel to cook the eggs. Once the kitchen towel is dry then that would make the rice cooker stop cooking as there is no more moisture inside.
Once the eggs are done, I would put it in cold water so it stops the cooking process. The eggs came out perfect!
You should give it a try! It really does work!
