Where: Comptoir Libanais, Bath
I LOVE this place. Everytime I go to Bath, I always come here for lunch. I recommended this place to my aunt and cousin and they loved the food.
When you walk into the restaurant you definitely get the Lebanese feel. It’s so colourful and they have fez hats on the walls.
What did we eat? Here it goes…
Starter
– Fattoush
– Baba Ghanuj
– Spiced chicken wings
The Fattoush was a salad that had sumac, pitta crisps and pomegranate seeds on top. This salad was fresh and with the pitta crisps gave it an extra texture and crunch.
Baba Ghanuj was soooo creamy. It was a smoke aubergine dip and it came with pitta breads. The only negative was that we needed more bread! It was that nice. I’ve never had anything that creamy before, it was very moreish.
The spiced chicken wings weren’t very spicy but it had enough spice. The meat was falling off the bone, we really wished we ordered another plate! The skin was crispy and with the lemon wedge that came with it and squeezed on top.. It was so good!
The main I had a lamb kofta grill with vermicelli rice and salad. The lamb kofta was soft as and eaten with the whole jalapeño gave it a different dimension. The vermicelli rice is my favourite; it’s basically rice with little brown vermicelli through it, they are both cooked perfectly.
If you ever go to Bath, go to this restaurant. Oh and my favourite drink is the Mira. It’s fresh mint, lemon, lime and orange blossom lemonade. On a hot day it’s very refreshing, it’s a little bit sour but it does go sweet!
You can also buy cook books and other Lebanese food so it’s fab that they do that. I’ve always wanted to find the vermicelli rice but I could never find it 😦
