Mauritian food

Where: Lakazmaman, Southampton

This is my favourite place in Southampton. This restaurant is owned my Masterchef Champion Shelina Permalloo. I’ve met her before and she is lovely.

The food has a good level of spice and has so much texture.

So starter:

– Mauritian octopus and pineapple

The octopus was melt in your mouth. I love octopus. It was only one tentacle but it was enough and with the pineapple salsa it made it so refreshing.

For main I had braised mutton cari. This is always my go to dish when I come here. I’ve tried other main dishes but I always come back to this one! The spice is lovely and with the other spicy sides mixed in it’s great! The braised mutton is so soft as well, you don’t have to chew it! It’s like a sunshine on a plate.

Atmosphere is always great in there, the waiters/waitresses are all friendly and if you are lucky, Shelina might be in the kitchen!
