Lets get pickling

I’ve been to BBC Good Food Show for maybe 4 years now and it’s the first time they were giving out goodie bags! The bag had a lot of goodies but the one I really wanted to try was the pickling liquid!

It had ginger and oregano flavour to it. This bottle made a tub and a half. I wanted to see in such a short time if the vegetables would have enough pickle flavour to it.
I cut the mooli, carrots and a cucumber into batons. I put it in a big mixing bowl first before sharing it out into the tubs.
You then pour the liquid in top of your vegetables. So simple! I put it in the fridge so it is cold when you eat it.

Taste test: I left the the vegetables for around an hour in the fridge. The vegetables were still crunchy and you can taste the oregano but not much of the garlic. I’m going to leave it overnight and then taste it again to see how much the flavour has enhanced.

If you want quick pickling then I think this is the way to go. It doesn’t take long and you can eat pickled vegetables the same day! I think I will try do to my own pickling liquid at some point, so watch this space!
