Korean BBQ Manna Restaurant

Where: 9 High Street, Southampton, Hampshire SO14 2DH

Me and my friend always walk past this Korean BBQ restaurant and have said that we need to try it. Today we actually went in and tried (finally!). It never looks busy in there but it’s a cute little place and their light shades are colinders! It was so cute!

There was only one person waiting tables but to be fair, there was only our table and another one. The service was little slow… When we wanted the bill, the guy was just sitting behind the bar and didn’t really acknowledge us, so I ended up going up to him to ask for the bill.

Starter: Deep fried seaweed roll (Gim Mari). This was very yummy! Nice and crispy and inside were vermicelli glass noodles. The dipping sauce was just soy sauce. I loved the balance of the crisp outside and the soft noodles inside. The seaweed wasn’t soggy or mushy either; which I thought it might be.
Main (my friend’s): Korean style crispy chicken (Yang Nyeom chicken). I tried one of my friend’s chicken and it was very tasty. The menu said it’s a sweet chilli sauce but I couldn’t taste much of the chilli. The chicken was nice and moist and despite the sauce the chicken skin was still crispy. There were a good 10 pieces of chicken in that little basket, it was also nice that they gave you gloves to eat the chicken with!
My main: Seafood ramen (Hae Mul ramen). With the cold weather this was just what I needed. The soup was nice and spicy although there wasn’t much seafood in this. They were all very small, it has mussels and squid. So not much in it!

All in all, the food was rather nice. We didn’t try out the actual Korean BBQ but I reckon it’s a evening thing and not a lunch thing! So a good excuse to go back again!
