Fusion Noodle Bar

Where: 15-16, St. Mary Street, Southampton, SO14 1NP

Fusion Noodle Bar is just round the corner from my place so I’ve sometimes been a regular there (pre COVID) and the owner always recognises me!

I know it says noodle bar but it’s not just noodles. They do rice dishes and all sorts of Chinese takeaway food. When I usually go, I’m always about the noodles. Their braised beef soup noodles are amazing! But tonight I went for ma po tofu with boiled rice and won ton soup.

Their won ton soup was lovely. It wasn’t salty and it had a good kick of peppery goodness. It had some Chinese cabbage which was nice and soft and the won tons had lots of flavour. I would definitely order this again.
The ma po tofu had the right amount of balance. It wasn’t overly spicy and not overly vinegary (if that’s a word!). It had great texture of tofu, bamboo shoots and Chinese mushrooms. There’s some places that aren’t able to get that balance right on the sauce. The boiled rice was nice and fluffy too. This is my comfort food.

Now, I could technically cook all of this myself but I was feeling lazy. I wish I was in the kitchen when my mum cooks this dish. I love my mum’s cooking!

I am at some point going to make my own won ton, I haven’t done it by myself before but will see how it goes! When you make won ton, they are great for the freezer so you can make plenty 😀

If you’re ever in Southampton and fancy simple Chinese food, go to Fusion Noodle Bar. Totally recommend it 🙂
